Akram Alami is a core member of our global Energy, Aviation, and Sustainability practices.

He leads the Aviation sector practice in the Middle East and is a senior member of our global Advanced Manufacturing practice. Akram supports multiple clients in this space with expertise in corporate strategy (network and fleet), M&A, investment strategies and operating model.

Akram also leads Bain’s Utilities practice in the Middle East. He is responsible for developing corporate strategies for a leading regional utilities company. This includes energy transition, internal performance enhancement, investment, M&A strategy, operating model, organizational structure, country sector strategy reform, decarbonization, and wholesale generation buyer strategy.

Additionally, he leads our Middle East Sustainability & Responsibility practice, specializing in ESG and energy transition topics across multiple sectors, where he focuses on developing corporate decarbonization strategies and execution plans. 

The MENA region is critical in the global ambitions on climate change. Our engagement with the World Economic Forum is one of many coordination projects where we are bringing the leading corporate entities in the region to work together on plans that practically implement the region’s ambitions on net zero and beyond.

Akram Alami

With nearly 20 years of consulting experience, Akram first joined Bain in 2009, having previously worked for a major integrated service operator in the oil and gas industry.

Prior to rejoining Bain in 2021, he was Chief Transformation Officer at The Etihad Aviation Group, delivering a multi-billion EBIT-focused program and was lead executive in delivering the change management plan.

Akram leads Bain’s ESG work in the Middle East, championing the sustainability agenda across industries, including aviation and energy, advising CEOs, boards, state owned enterprises and governments in the region. He advises the World Economic Forum on sustainability topics in the Middle East & North Africa, specifically relating to accelerating the corporate led climate and sustainability action and partnering with WEF’s Leaders for a Sustainable MENA group (LSM) – a group of high level participants from ministries, businesses, and financial institutions from the region.

He earned his M.B.A from The London Business School and a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree from McGill University (Montréal).
