John is a partner in Bain & Company's global oil & gas
practice. He specializes in the development of strategy and
performance improvement in the oil and gas sector and has worked
with all tiers of the industry; governments, national oil companies
(NOCs), international oil companies (IOCs) and the service sector.
John has worked in the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Asia
Pacific.
John's recent assignments include the re-structuring of the
E&P business of a leading IOC, performance improvement in a
leading NOC and multiple growth strategy assignments with oil field
service companies and investors in oil & gas. He has also
developed a technology strategy for a Middle East NOC and led
several NOC/IOC joint venture performance improvement and
re-structuring assignments in the Middle East, West Africa and Asia
Pacific. Futhermore, John recently worked on cost reduction and
performance improvement in an Asian Pacific independent oil and gas
company.
Before he became a consultant, John worked for Shell
International Exploration & Production in the UK North Sea and
Sultanate of Oman. He occupied a number of roles in oil and gas
field development, where he led major projects and business
planning.
John holds a BSc (Honours) in Engineering and Management from
Durham University, UK . He is a member of the Society of Petroleum
Engineers and a regular contributor to oil & gas industry
events and forums.
