José is a partner in Bain & Company's São
Paulo office. He joined Bain in 2008 and has more than 13 years of
experience in management consulting.
José has worked with top management of large national and
multinational groups in several industries such as oil and gas,
petrochemicals, and utilities in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Bolivia,
Mexico, Venezuela, US, Germany, UK, Spain, South Africa and
Angola.
José's experience in oil and gas involves projects with
NOCs, IOCs and governmental entities in various countries in the
areas of E&P, gas, refining, distribution and oilfield
services. He has led projects of corporate strategy, business unit
strategy, marketing strategy, portfolio and risk strategy,
organization and organizational transformation, corporate finance
and M&A.
Prior to joining Bain, he worked for three years with the
Monitor Group in Brazil, as a Partner focused in the Energy,
Consumer Goods, and Sustainability areas, where he co-wrote the
book "101 Brazilian Innovations". Before that, he worked
for four years with A. T. Kearney, co-leading the Energy
Practice in Latin America, and for three years with Arthur D.
Little, as Chemicals Practice Manager.
He graduated in chemical engineering at Universidade Federal da
Bahia in Brazil, and holds an MBA from the Johnson School, Cornell
University. At the Johnson School, he was a teaching assistant in
financial strategy, and founding member of the Latin American
Business Association.
He has lived for five years in the US, and for two years in
Chile. He is fluent in Portuguese, English, Spanish and
French.
