Philippe is a partner in the Dubai office. A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Colgate University where he earned a BA in Economics, magna cum laude, Philippe has worked extensively in the US, UK, and throughout Western Europe.
He started his professional career within ADB, now part of the German group Siemens, specializing in electronics for aviation landing and television control systems.
After earning his MBA at Dartmouth's Tuck School, Philippe rejoined ADB and took up different functions in the United States and Europe, eventually becoming CEO in 1983.
In 1987, Philippe joined the firm Carre, Orban & Partners in London and Brussels, as Partner. He first headed their organizational practice and later became Managing Partner for all European operations.
In 1992, Philippe joined Bain & Company in their Brussels office as partner, after a short stay at the firm's Boston headquarters. He moved to Brussels to spearhead the development of the Benelux practice and then relocated to the Paris office before coming to Dubai. Today Philippe focuses primarily on fundamental strategic redeployment of major international companies where the role of the center is a subject of many studies.
Philippe has published two books on Management: "The Management Audit" in 1993 -Philippe De Backer & Sir Michael Craig-Cooper and "Maximum Leadership" in 1995 - Philippe De Backer & Charles Farkas and sits on a number of large nonprofit boards.
