China briefing: The great IPO freeze

Although under-valued exits are common, Bain & Company has identified a 600 company backlog that has created a 3.9 year waiting list for Chinese companies to go public. This long waiting period has grown over the past few years, even though Bain & Company findings indicate that IPO exit value fell to $167 million from $323 million in 2010. The reasons for the continued interest in IPOs from Chinese companies may stem from company founder's cultural factors, rather than financial motives.
