Bain & Company partner Torsten Lichtenau named Young Global Leader by World Economic Forum

BAIN & COMPANY PARTNER TORSTEN LICHTENAU NAMED YOUNG GLOBAL LEADER BY WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM

London – 16 March 2016 - Bain & Company announced today that Torsten Lichtenau, a London-based partner and head of the firm's Results Delivery Practice in the U.K., has been named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum. Lichtenau was recognized for his professional accomplishments advising clients on complex business transformations and his inspirational leadership in developing people.

Lichtenau is one of 122 leaders in business, government, academia and the media – all under 40 years old – selected to the Forum of Young Global Leaders (YGLs), a community of exceptional young individuals who work in close cooperation with the World Economic Forum and other stakeholders around the world to identify solutions to better serve society at large.

"Torsten demonstrates essential leadership qualities – an exceptional team player with a passion for driving change, while remaining pragmatic, humble and approachable," said Paul Meehan, managing director for Bain's Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region. "He personifies what it means to be a Young Global Leader, and we congratulate him on this prestigious recognition."

Lichtenau, who joined Bain in 2004, is an expert in corporate transformations, particularly in the oil & gas sector. He has an outstanding record of working alongside clients in Europe, Africa, and the U.S. to achieve tangible results in large-scale, multi-year engagements. In addition to his role in Bain's Results Delivery Practice, he is also a leader in the firm's global Organization Practice. He has made important contributions to Bain's research on complexity reduction and Results Delivery, including co-authoring The What, Who and How of Delivering Results and Tackling Complexity: How to Create Simple and Effective Organizations He was also recently quoted by The Economist Intelligence Unit on the topic of complexity.

Outside of his client work, Lichtenau pursues his passion for developing people, both within Bain and beyond. He has been instrumental in supporting the Bain Academy in South Africa – an initiative to train the next generation of Africa's leaders – since its inception in 2013.  He co-created and steers the curriculum on organization and Results Delivery for high-potential participants.

"I am honored to be selected by the World Economic Forum as one of its Young Global Leaders and am excited to collaborate with my fellow YGLs on our shared commitment to shaping the global future," said Lichtenau.

Lichtenau graduated summa cum laude from the WHU Koblenz with a Ph.D. in business administration. He earned his German MBA from the University of Saarland.

He joins a roster of eight other Bain partners who have been selected as Young Global Leaders.
