ASIA GROWTH AND STRATEGY VETERAN JOHN SEQUEIRA NAMED HEAD OF BAIN & COMPANY'S ASIA-PACIFIC INDUSTRIAL GOODS AND SERVICES PRACTICE
Hong Kong-March 3, 2011-John Sequeira, a highly-regarded expert in the areas of strategy, business growth, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity in Asia, was named today as head of Bain & Company's Asia Industrial Goods & Services Practice. The appointment was announced today by Paul Meehan, Regional Managing Director for Bain in Asia-Pacific.
For two decades, Mr. Sequeira has worked with companies to find sources of sustainable, profitable growth and to make their businesses more valuable. He has worked with CEOs in some of the largest multinational and domestic corporations in Asia to define growth strategy, to advise on turnarounds, to evaluate and execute on the largest cross-border merger and acquisitions deals, and to improve their operations, their organizations, and their performance. He has presented on various business topics at the World Economic Forum and World Knowledge Forum.
"John's sober view on how to maximize both profits and portfolios and his innovative thinking on growth are a great fit for the current industrial climate in Asia," said Paul Meehan. Manufacturers in mature markets are fighting chilly domestic headwinds, while those in emerging markets are turning their energies to domestic strategies and the next wave of emerging economies."
Prior to joining Bain, Sequeira worked with the Corporate and Investment Banking groups at American Express Bank and Banque Indosuez in the U.S. and Asia, with leadership roles in project and trade finance, long-term commercial debt, IPOs and mergers and acquisitions.
He graduated with distinction from the University of Baroda, India with a Bachelor of Engineering degree, and earned an MBA from the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
