Bain & Company names Dr. Henrik Naujoks to lead European Financial Services practice

BAIN & COMPANY NAMES DR. HENRIK NAUJOKS TO LEAD EUROPEAN FINANCIAL SERVICES PRACTICE

NEW YORK – February 13, 2012—Bain & Company, the global business consulting firm, today named Dr. Henrik Naujoks to serve as the firm’s EMEA Financial Services Practice Leader, effective January 1, 2012.

Dr. Naujoks currently heads Bain’s Financial Services Practice in Germany and Switzerland and is managing partner of the firm’s Dusseldorf office. His promotion was announced by Philippe de Backer, Dubai-based global co-head of Bain’s Financial Services Practice.

"Henrik is a proven leader in helping Bain’s financial services clients navigate through major industry upheaval and transformation," said de Backer. "His turnaround skills have never been in greater demand by management teams in Europe as the financial services industry continues to face major challenges as a result of the ongoing fallout from the sovereign debt crisis."

Dr. Naujoks is a member of Bain’s Financial Services Practice, assisting clients with corporate and business unit strategy, large scale transformations and post merger integration. In recent client work he has advised on fundamental business challenges posed by the current capital market environment, regulatory and technological threats to existing business models in banking and insurance, and new developments in strategic management. He joined Bain in 1993 and has also worked in the Munich, Los Angeles and Zurich offices.

Dr. Naujoks dedicates considerable time to social initiatives and acts as advisor and board member for a number of non-profit organizations. He is a board member of Child and Youth Finance, a global organization seeking to bring financial access and financial education to children and youth around the world, and a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board for WHU, a leading German business school.

Dr. Naujoks was named to the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders group in 2007. The group consists of under-40 professionals chosen globally from the worlds of business, government, civil society, arts and culture, academia and media. He is a co-founder of the group’s Learn Money program, an initiative to improve young people's financial and economic knowledge. In addition, he supports leading social entrepreneurial organizations such as the Homeless World Cup, which uses soccer to help homeless people energize their lives, and International Bridges to Justice, which seeks to safeguard basic legal rights of citizens in developing countries.

Dr. Naujoks studied business administration at the University of Munich and earned his Ph.D. in economics and business administration at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. He wrote his thesis on organizational theory and behavior in large organizations with a focus on autonomy in large organizations.

Dr. Naujoks's views have been published and quoted in media including the Financial Times, Harvard Business Manager, Die Bank and Versicherungswirtschaft.
