Bain & Company names Karan Singh to steer its India business through its next phase of growth; appoints Sri Rajan as chairman of Bain India

BAIN & COMPANY NAMES KARAN SINGH TO STEER ITS INDIA BUSINESS THROUGH ITS NEXT PHASE OF GROWTH; APPOINTS SRI RAJAN AS CHAIRMAN OF BAIN INDIA

New Delhi – 24 July, 2015 – Bain & Company, the global business and management consultancy, has named Karan Singh as managing director, where he will be responsible for leading growth, operations, people and brand strategy for its India offices. His appointment was announced by Dale Cottrell, head of Bain's Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

"Karan is a trusted advisor to our clients who has successfully led several of our key client relationships and has deep insights on the rapidly evolving business environment in India and across Asia," said Mr. Cottrell. "He takes the helm as Bain India is witnessing strong double digit growth recently, making it one of major drivers of growth in Asia Pacific. I am confident that under his leadership we will continue to strengthen our client and people assets and build an enduring institution in a very important market for Bain."

Mr. Singh was most recently head of Bain's Healthcare Practice in Asia Pacific, leading projects in the medical devices, healthcare delivery and pharmaceuticals industries. His expertise includes transformation, turnaround and growth strategy, M&A and post-merger integration, performance management, and change management. .He also has experience in the consumer products, e-commerce, industrial goods and services, and financial services industries.

Mr. Singh joined Bain in 1998 and has also worked in the firm's Boston office. Prior to that, he worked at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, in the economic consulting practice, at the Brookings Institution conducting economic research.

Mr. Singh has been quoted and published in a variety of media, including the European edition of The Wall Street Journal, The Economic Times, and Mint. He has been a speaker at World Economic Forum events.

Mr. Singh is the author of several reports, including, "India Healthcare Roadmap for 2025,"  "India Philanthropy Report 2014" and Bain's "Global Healthcare Private Equity Report 2014."

He earned an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.

Sri Rajan, who served as managing director of Bain India for four-and-a half years, will become chairman of Bain India.  In this capacity, Mr. Rajan will continue to advise chief executives and boards of directors and lead the firm's engagement with industry and government forums across India.  He will also work closely with Mr. Singh on implementing strategy for the firm in India.
