We maintain an entrepreneurial spirit and environment at Bain which includes the founding of a unique network of related ventures and initiatives, including The Bridgespan Group, a nonprofit organization focused on delivering high-level strategy consulting services to the nonprofit sector.
Our entrepreneurial spirit also led to the establishment of Bain's private equity practice in 1994. We were the first strategy consulting firm to establish a practice working with private equity firms, and we continue to be the market leader in this area.
Bain people are highly entrepreneurial. Many consultants join Bain to build the necessary skills and network to ultimately be successful in running their own businesses. And as a result, a high proportion of Bain alumni—more than 50%—choose entrepreneurial career paths.
At Bain, we realize that giving up a secure job to start your own business can be an extremely daunting prospect. That's why, when we are able, we try to help our people by giving them the safety net of returning to Bain should things not work out. We try to help them wherever we can: from using Bain's facilities to finding potential investors.
