| Your summer work experience can have long-term implications. Bain internships provide you with the opportunity to experience the real world of consulting while offering valuable insight into a future with Bain.
Many Bain offices offer two types of internships:
- The Associate Consultant Intern program
(primarily geared towards college/university students)
- The Summer Associate program
(for business school students)
Both programs provide rigorous training that includes a structured introduction to Bain analytical tools and applications. There is a strong mentoring and professional development component as well as ongoing coaching by colleagues and case team members.
Associate Consultant Interns (ACIs) will be staffed on actual cases beginning in the first or second week of the program. You'll work as members of case teams in roles that vary by the team's objective. ACIs are typically responsible for data gathering and analysis, interviewing the client's customers, competitors, and suppliers, and presenting the findings to case team members.
The Summer Associate (SA) position simulates the experience of a new consultant. You'll perform a full range of functions-field interviews, data analysis, solution brainstorming, presentation crafting and delivery-on case assignments that range from business unit strategy to marketing, mergers and acquisitions, and IT. You will work directly with case teams and clients to solve business problems and create change.
In addition to our culture of work, we give you a taste of the attributes and lifestyle that support it. That means lots of opportunities for fun, whether you go out for softball, white-water rafting, or the Bain Band.
ACI program requirements
Our Associate Consultant Intern (ACI) program is typically for students between their third and fourth year of college/university who are considering a career in management consulting after graduation. All majors are welcome to apply. Associate Consultant Interns must have strong academic backgrounds, analytical skills, a high motivation level, and outstanding interpersonal skills.
Summer Associate program requirements
Summer Associates (SAs) are typically students between their first and second year of business school who are considering management consulting as a career.
