We value our diverse interests outside of work. The activities Bain people pursue after work are both fascinating and admirable. Bain people use their talents to attain extraordinary accomplishments, give back to their communities or raise active families.
- A Sydney associate consultant was a two-time Olympic diver who placed fourth—achieving Australia’s best diving record in 70 years
- Before coming to Bain, a San Francisco consultant was the first female to qualify as a landing-signal officer in the US Navy, flying fighter aircraft from aircraft carriers
- A Zurich manager ran ultra-marathons—79 grueling kilometers in high altitudes under the most challenging of conditions
- A small team of Paris colleagues wrote the business plan and implemented a hotline to help children against violence for the former first lady of France's Foundation Pour L'Enfance
Strong professional relationships are built on both collaborative work and unstructured time to relax and get to know each other. Bain offers a broad range of activities to enjoy one another's company. Activities are by no means mandatory, however many consultants enjoy spending time with their colleagues.
Case teams participate in social activities during business hours to get to know their teammates in a less formal setting. Case team events include skiing day trips, balloon rides, cooking classes, volunteer efforts and theater shows. Consultants also coordinate Bain-sponsored activities on their own to get to know their colleagues outside of work.
There are also officewide events, such as dedicated volunteer days, holiday parties and annual offsite meetings. These events are often a great opportunity for significant others to meet colleagues at Bain. Many consultants eagerly await the offsite meetings for the chance to hear the Bain Band perform in locations such as islands off the African coast, the Australian wine country or a Vermont ski resort.
Some activities stretch across all the worldwide offices. For instance, the Bain World Cup is hosted each year by a different office. Teams from all over the world compete in a companywide soccer tournament.
