Advanced professional degrees
Are you completing your PhD, JD, or MD and trying to identify the next step in your career? Or are you currently in a Postdoc program or a medical residency/fellowship and interested in a transition to consulting? Advanced Degree (AD) candidates typically join Bain as consultants, although sometimes join as summer associates or associate consultants.
As an Advanced Degree holder, you bring a valuable perspective to casework at Bain. Your expertise, skill set, and natural curiosity are critical inputs to our work in creating change for our clients and allow you to make an impact from day one on the job. Not only will you have a chance to work for clients in the industry most related to your field of study, but you will also benefit from our generalist approach, which allows our team members to develop a broad business skill set that can be applied across all industries and business needs.
Our Advanced Degree application deadline for 2017 full-time opportunities has now passed, but we will continue to review applicants on a rolling basis over the coming months. Please apply via our online application in order to be considered.
ADs who are interested in our 2017 summer associate opportunities should plan to apply by December 9, 2016 via our online application. Hiring practices vary by geographic market, so be sure to check our local office pages for specific information. For non-consulting opportunities, please click here to learn more and apply.
The online application requires the following:
- Resume and cover letter (MS Word Doc or PDF files only)
- Undergraduate GPA
- Test scores (e.g., GRE, LSAT, MCAT, Boards)
- TOEFL (see requirements below)
- Degree type
TOEFL requirements: Our North American offices require TOEFL scores of candidates who are non-native English speakers. An exemption is provided for any individual who earned their undergraduate degree at a U.S. university or a non-U.S. university where English is the only language of instruction.
Depending on your background, Bain uses a combination of case, written case, and experience interviews in our interview process. Each round will consist of two or three 40-45 minute interviews with separate interviewers. The interview process varies from office to office, so be sure to check the local page for specific information about their process.
We are committed to setting up our AD hires for success from the moment they decide to join us. From our world class training programs (include a program specifically for advanced degrees called ADAPT – Advanced Degree Accelerated Prep Training), to our home staffing model, to our dedicated mentors, to our extensive alumni network, you will be part of a vibrant, diverse, and supportive global team throughout each stage of your career.
