Thriving in a long-term career:

Bain is raising the bar on how we think about long-term careers. We are moving from just supporting our women to be successful to ensuring that every women at Bain truly thrives in her career. To us, thriving is more than just day-to-day success on the job; it is about enabling our women to grow, to develop vigorously and to flourish in both their professional and personal lives. Thriving is a highly individual journey and Bain is focused on enabling every woman to thrive on her own path, based on her own professional and personal priorities.

Thought Leaders:

Women at Bain across every industry, consulting service and geography are making a huge impact daily for our clients. Their expertise and thought leadership are what fuel Bain’s impressive success. Here are a few examples of the female thought leaders at Bain.

Global Initiatives

Our research enables us to stay on the forefront of gender parity, inform our own investments and help our clients as they think about this topic. Our highly publicized and well-respected research in the area of gender parity drives our initiatives and is increasingly a topic of conversation among the business community.

Sponsorship, mentorship, coaching:

Formal and informal programs to ensure that women at Bain have the full set of professional advisors and support they need to thrive.

Career flexibility:

We recognize that thriving requires flexibility in how one structures their long-term career, so we invest to enable many models of success via a full suite of flexible opportunities including part-time work, transfers, externships, time away and internal roles.

Culture & training:

We are focused on working with each region and office to ensure that we have an inclusive culture that enables every woman to thrive. This includes efforts such as ongoing dialogue forums to discuss the drivers of aspiration & confidence and behaviors we need to undertake to influence them. Our Global Women's Forum is a three-day training session held every other year. It brings together all of our senior women, as well as many senior men, for training and conversations about day-to-day initiatives.

Global leadership:

Bain’s Global Women’s Leadership Council (GWLC) is our global ‘governing body’, and includes our chief talent officer, our regional managing directors, several office heads from each region and other senior partners in the firm (both male and female). The GWLC’s primary role is to ensure that we develop and embed the global efforts to stay on the forefront of gender diversity in our firm. Within the GWLC, we have three Regional Operating Committees who work to ensure that our global efforts are customized to each region and to create specific initiatives where relevant.

Local WAB support:

We know that every woman is an individual, and every woman's path is different. In each office we have put in place a WAB partner & manager responsible for personalizing the global & regional initiatives to every individual woman in that office. These teams develop the local initiatives (mentorship, experience sharing, professional development) that further impact the day-to-day experience and enable women in that office to thrive.

Thriving is highly individual, even when your ‘career path’ may look similar to those around you. We all have different aspirations, professionally and personally; we all gain and expand energy in different ways; and we all have different support systems and people who will influence our ability to thrive.
