Why Bain?
I chose Bain for a variety of reasons, but primarily a sense that I connected with the people and I liked the challenging and interesting work. Compared to the other alternative I was considering, Investment Banking, there is a reasonable work/life balance.

My passion at Bain and outside of the office
I think my biggest passions generally are learning and problem solving, both of which come in spade at a place like Bain. I feel very fortunate to have had a great variety of case experiences and fantastic people I’ve worked with along the way.

Outside the office, I love playing a variety of instruments including guitar and classical piano, and compose some of my own music. I enjoy running, rock-climbing, and a variety of other sports. I’ve also undertaken some research projects that are of personal interest to me in areas such as climate change, applying the analytical and research skills I’ve learnt at Bain.

My favorite recent case
My favorite recent case was to define the Digital Media strategy for a major Telco company. We examined the growth opportunities across a number of segments, and the client’s ability to compete in those segments given their existing digital media assets and significant capital available to deploy.

My personal results story
I feel like I have had ample opportunity to make a strong personal impact on every case I have been in, because you are immediately given as much responsibility as you can handle. In my second week on the job, some analysis I had done was taken straight to a meeting with the CEO of the client!

My perspective on diversity at Bain
One of my favorite things about Bain has been the sheer diversity of people and backgrounds that you work with; there are former professional athletes, and academic backgrounds ranging from Finance to Medicine to Russian Literature!

A final thought
The career decision you make is a huge one in determining your lifestyle, development and happiness. I tried to make as informed a decision as I could through a variety of internships during university in consulting, investment banking, and the corporate sector, and I would highly recommend this approach if possible. I know it has meant I have ended up at the right firm for me.
