Manager, Brussels

Throughout my time at Bain, I have worked in a number of different industries, each time facing a different challenge. Because of this, I have the opportunity to learn something new every day. double-quote-close

Why Bain?

I joined Bain right after finishing my studies, and working here has given me a strong understanding of management consulting. After interviewing with several consulting firms, I chose Bain because of the people that I met during the interviews. They were all interesting, inspiring and motivated individuals, and I immediately knew that I wanted to work with them.

I love the work that I do at Bain because I have gained exposure to a strong variety of industries. I have also enjoyed the steep learning curve and the opportunity to work with very passionate colleagues.

My passion

In my spare time, I love to play sports and travel. I cycle, golf and play football on a regular basis. I also try to dive once a year during my holidays.

At Bain, we also have some sporting events. One of the highlights is the Bain World Cup. Each year, Bainies from all offices come together to compete against one another in a football and volleyball competition.

My favorite case

My favorite case involved a global consumer products company that needed Bain to identify the potential of the travel industry. In addition to researching airports and airlines, we examined other aspects of the travel industry, such as resorts and cruises.

While working on this project, I learned a lot about travel habits and flows. I gained an understanding of how people travel and the most popular holidays and businesses. I also discovered the average age of a cruise passenger and the regions with the most resorts.

My personal results story

My personal result story is about a portfolio strategy case for a global chemical company. During that case, I took the lead in developing the six-year financial plan. In addition to interacting with multiple streams of the case, I worked closely with key members of the finance team. At the end of the project, I had some working sessions with the CFO to finalize the financial plan.

One year later, I learned that the company is still implementing our strategy and following the targets that we developed during the project.

My perspective on diversity at Bain

It’s very interesting and instructive to meet and work with people from different countries and cultures. The mix of backgrounds is very exciting, though challenging at times. At Bain, you meet a diverse range of people during global trainings and events, as well as within your working environment.

A final thought

Throughout my time at Bain, I have worked in a number of different industries, each time facing a different challenge. Because of this, I have the opportunity to learn something new every day and never know what my next case will involve. Next to the people, this is why I chose Bain and am still working here!
