Why Consulting?
I enjoy the variety and the depth that consulting offers as a career - it gives me an understanding of CXO-level issues across various industries. It also provides me the opportunity to guide decisions to address these issues.
Why Bain?
Bain has a unique culture that blends a strong focus on results, with an equal focus on the teams that create them. The emphasis on working together as a team, on enjoying the work, and ensuring that the team delivers significant value to the client is something that differentiates Bain from other firms I've worked with.
A memorable experience at Bain.
My first Partner-Manager Group meeting at Bain was an incredible experience - it was great to see the alignment between the partners and managers on the key areas to focus on/ strengthen, the strategic direction that the firm wants to take, and, as a consequence, the capabilities it seeks to build. The degree of transparency and inclusiveness was amazing!
How is Bain India office unique?
The growth that Bain India has achieved in the last 4 years is unbelievable. Despite being a late entrant in the Indian market, Bain has outpaced several established consulting firms and has built a strong brand name in a very short time. A large part of the work done by the India office also involves dealing with large family-run businesses, which is unique and core to needs of the Indian market.
Interests outside work.
I enjoy travel - one of the most fascinating places I have visited is the Angkor Wat. I also love shopping and reading (mostly fiction).
Advice for prospective applicants.
Bain has a strong focus on 'the answer first', which involves identifying the critical aspects of the problem before starting the execution, and developing a hypothesis to address it. Build this into your approach for solving cases.
