Why Consulting?
The learning opportunities are immense and unlike any other
profession out there. After working in Public Finance Investment
banking for a year, I needed a change of pace and exposure to a
wider range of industries. Consulting provided me exactly that. In
my 7 months here so far, I have already worked on 4 different
industries.
Why Bain?
Apart from its excellent reputation of delivering results, what
attracted me to Bain was the passionate leadership. Every partner
or manager I met was enthusiastic about their clients, their
previous cases, and the rapid growth of the Bain India office.
Through my few informal conversations and interviews, I knew Bain
would prove to be a challenging yet fun place to work.
A memorable experience at Bain
The Associate Consultant Training program in Virginia was
unforgettable. The 2 weeks were packed with intense training
sessions but, somehow, there was always still enough time for the
various parties and fun activities. What made the entire experience
absolutely amazing was the opportunity to meet more than 100 other
ACs from around the world. I was able to witness such different
cultures and working styles while working with 5 other ACs day in
and day out.
How is Bain India office unique?
I think we get the most interesting cases! Everyone around the
world talks about the emerging markets. We get to live it every day
and deal with the challenges that arise in such a market. Our
Indian clients come to us with complex and unique issues and we
also get to work with a number of foreign firms trying to enter the
Indian subcontinent.
Interests outside work
I am a complete glutton and am always looking for new restaurants
to eat at. I travel often over the weekends to visit friends and
family. I have also been involved with an orphanage in Pune called
SOFOSH for the last couple of years and continue to work with them
remotely.
Advice for prospective applicants.
Find a mentor to guide you through the application process. Case
prep doesn't happen overnight and it's extremely important to have
someone help you prepare consistently.
