Why Consulting?
Consulting offered a great learning opportunity to work across
diverse industries in various capabilities. It was also an
opportunity to understand the best practices across industries and
how to apply them.
Why Bain?
I had met people from different companies while coordinating campus
placements in the first 2 years of college and realized that the
friendliness and the openness of the people at Bain was
exceptional. The people at Bain are all not the same, but they are
all smart and amazingly helpful people, unwilling to be
disillusioned by the rat race, determined to work hard, and also
have fun at office and beyond. You'll grow to love them too!
A memorable experience at Bain.
On my birthday eve during my first year at Bain, my friends
(including friends from Bain) gifted me a ticket home for the next
morning. I was delighted but didn't realize how it could work out
as it was a Friday: I had not asked for a vacation and I had many
deliverables. But they said how my Bain team leader and manager
were in the plan too. They had approved the vacation and played
along.
Interests outside work
Actively involved in Bain's volunteering and non-profit consulting
programs, including spending time on weekends teaching street kids
at shelter homes, and providing strategic support to a small social
enterprise that is working towards child literacy.
Advice for prospective applicants
Three things: One, Bain is very results focused. So, it will be
great if you can mention your impact at the different institutions
where you studied or worked. Two, be sincere. Your passion and fun
factor will go a long way into helping the interviewers find out
whether you're the right fit. Three, be frank: During the
interview, feel free to speak out your thoughts as you work out the
case.
