MBA

We welcome full-time consultant applications from second-year MBAs or those approaching the end of their one-year programme. Full-time consultant applications are considered from the beginning of August to the end of October.

To apply for a summer associate position, you must be in your first year of business school. Summer associate applications are welcome from the beginning of November to the end of January.

The application deadline for summer associate positions is Friday January 6, 2017. The deadline for full-time positions has passed.

We look for consultant and summer associate (SA) candidates who show an enthusiasm for problem solving and a practical perspective to delivering meaningful results. We hire from the top MBA programmes around the world, seeking people with the intelligence, the passion and the leadership to drive change across organisations—and who also like to have a little fun along the way. On campus

Bain actively recruits at a number of business schools around the world and across the UK, including London Business School. Visit your school’s page for information about Bain’s recruiting efforts on your campus.

Interviews

The consultant recruitment process involves a combination of case and experience interviews to help us get to know you better. Since each case interview will entail a discussion of an actual Bain case, you will also gain some insights into what it is like to work at Bain. We encourage you to prepare for your case interviews.

Successful applicants will participate in up to two rounds of interviews, each with two to three 30-45 minute interviews.

First round
You will meet with two consultants or managers on campus, in a Bain office or via video conference if you are invited to interview. The bulk of your first round of interviews will revolve around the discussion of Bain cases. Your interviewer will present a short business problem and then ask you to structure the problem and recommend a practical solution. Your interview may begin with an opportunity to share your achievements and future goals. You should also have time at the end to ask your interviewer questions.

Second round
Those successfully passing the first round will participate in a second round of interviews, either on campus or in a Bain office. You will meet with Bain managers, principals and partners during this final round. Your interview will consist of two case interviews and one experience interview.

In the experience interview, your interviewer will ask traditional resume and behavioral questions, as well as questions about a mini-case based on your experiences, to better understand you and your interest in Bain.

Internships

Be a consultant for the summer
First-year MBAs (who have summer term breaks in July and August) who would like to experience the real world of consulting, whilst gaining insight into what a future with Bain would be like, should apply for the summer associate (SA) position.

SAs are given ownership of client issues and the responsibility and support to develop lasting client relationships. SAs are encouraged to develop their professional network and learn about Bain's strong office culture. To facilitate professional networking opportunities, SAs from all offices are introduced to Bain with a formal global training programme.

SAs join case teams and replicate the responsibilities of a full-time consultant. They work directly with case teams and clients to solve business problems and drive change. Most SAs are amazed at the wealth of industry knowledge, client management and communication skills that they capture in only 10 weeks, and the majority decide to join Bain full-time upon the completion of their MBA.
