Why Bain?

I chose consulting because I really wanted to develop my business skills and experience. I loved the idea of doing this by helping businesses solve some of their most challenging problems.

I chose Bain firstly for its great people and its culture. I really clicked with everybody I spoke with during my interviews. The growth opportunities and the people at Bain were the most important factors in my decision. I felt that at Bain I could build my own Bain while getting great development opportunities for my career and support along the way. Finally, I really liked how Bain balanced office-centric staffing with international opportunities. I thought this would give me the best of both worlds in consulting.

My passion

With my background in industrials and interest in energy and resources, I am really passionate about helping businesses in these sectors solve some of their big challenges. As they tend to be big business spread globally, these challenges are often not small! At Bain, I’ve already had the chance to work on helping a utilities company develop its strategy for smart meters and helped an industrial machinery producer look at its M&A options.

Outside of work, I am passionate about outside adventures and have found many ways to pursue this while at Bain. I’ve had the time to go on climbing, skiing and sailing adventures, and I've found many fellow enthusiasts here at Bain who inspire me with new ideas. I’ve even gone on a trip to the French Alps, organised by a group of passionate Bain skiers!

My favorite case

It’s really tough to say which has been my favourite case so far. I’ve really liked all of them and had such a great diversity of cases and clients. My favourite, though, had to be a telecom case in an emerging market. The team travelled to the different markets to do field work to understand how the telecom market was operating in those countries. It was a great combination of traditional market research and field research, which permitted us to give real insights to the client about their markets.

My personal results story

Be it through newspaper articles about your client’s great results or the C-level developing a new understanding of their business based on a specific piece of analysis you have done, it is hugely satisfying to see your work create change for your clients!

A final thought

Find the company and culture that is right for you. Talk to the people you might be working with and understand what the company is seeking from its people. You’ll just know when it’s the right one for you.
