Why Bain?

When I was first considering Bain, I was truly struck by how friendly and supportive the people were during recruiting and the interview process – and after working here for nearly 5 years, it’s hard for me to think of a place where people are so genuinely invested and supportive of your personal and professional growth goals. From the manager who encouraged my staffing manager and the partners on my case to allow me to do a client demand transfer to Paris, to the case team leader that coached me extensively for my first client presentation as an associate consultant, to the staff who supported my need to transfer offices permanently for personal reasons – I can’t imagine any other place where the people would take so much time to ensure that the people they work with succeed.

My passion

I am passionate about the retail industry – something that grew out one of my first cases as an AC! Since then, Bain has allowed me to work on some of the most interesting retail issues our clients face, and has enabled me to grow my skills in the industry by helping me secure externships at innovative retail companies.

My favorite case

Working on the US and European pricing strategy for five global beauty brands. My analysis was critical in reshaping the strategies for these brands, and I had the opportunity to present my insights to senior leadership for each of the brands in both the US and in France. It was fascinating to see how nuanced the answer was for each brand and even for each geography. A year after implementing the strategy, it was rewarding to read articles written in newspapers such as The New York Times about the company’s new approach and the results they were achieving from it.

My perspective on diversity at Bain

One of the things I believe Bain does really well is simultaneously foster a close, supportive community and enable us to experience the diversity of people that work at Bain around the world. For example, our global trainings are an incredible opportunity to meet and form close relationships with colleagues in different offices, and to experience what it is like to work with people around the world.

As a member of the Latinos at Bain (LATBA), I have also had the unique opportunity to be a part of a fun and supportive community that hosts some of the best social events in the office (e.g., the annual guac-off in Boston). At the recent LATBA conference, I had the chance to meet with other LATBA members around North America to share our experiences and provide mentorship and advice.

A final thought

I can’t imagine a better place for me to have started my career – I have had the opportunity to be challenged and learn something new everyday while given the tools, resources and support needed to succeed every step of the way.
