Our recruiting process

We are always looking for outstanding people who can solve complex problems in a structured way, have no difficulty working under pressure and are great team players. In order to evaluate whether or not a candidate fulfills all these requirements, while also helping us contribute to their development, our process is divided into two important phases:

Pre-Interview
Depending upon the candidate's profile, a pre-interview phase might be required. This phase is composed of multiple-choice exams and a group dynamics simulation.

Multiple-choice exams
The first exam the candidate takes is based on the GMAT, a logical and verbal English exam used to select MBA candidates. Our test has 20 questions that are split into critical reasoning, data sufficiency and problem solving. The exam must be finished in 30 minutes.

The second exam is based on real business cases and has the objective of evaluating both candidate's interpretation ability and business sense. This exam has 18 questions to be solved in one hour.

Group dynamics simulation
This exercise tests the candidate's ability to work in a team during a real business case simulation. It most often takes place at the Bain offices in either São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro.

Bain's consultants are responsible for this phase. They separate the candidates into different groups, present the business case and evaluate the candidates.

For different cities outside São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, depending on how many candidates were approved on the previous exam, this phase can be summarized with an individual conversation with each candidate.

In this phase, candidates with significant professional experience or an MBA are typically exempt.

Interview
After the pre-interview phase, the recruiting process continues with individual interviews. This phase is divided into three sessions, each with at least two different interviews. At the end of each session, the candidate will be informed whether or not he or she will continue to the next session. The interviewers are either experienced consultants or managers, and the interviewers for the last sessions are always Bain partners.

The interviews are divided into an introduction phase and a business case. During the introduction phase the candidate usually answers questions about his or her CV or about particular experiences and capabilities. During the business case, the candidate is asked to solve a real case with the manager of the project. It is expected that the candidate will be able to address the problem and provide the manager with a potential answer for the client.
