Ownership series: Talent management

Recruiting, talent development and performance review departments often operate separately, without collaboration. As a result, employees' capabilities identified in the hiring process are not linked to placement and training programs. The practices of regularly rotating positions and standardizing performance review systems also add to the problem.

Organizations need a comprehensive employee career management program to organically connect talent hiring, placement, education and training, as well as performance review systems that prioritize people over the efficiency of departments. Coaching from mentors who can present future career paths for employees and help them to develop the specific capabilities required is also needed.
