A dozen years ago, we took perhaps our boldest step toward transforming the social sector: we helped found and then incubated a nonprofit professional services firm dedicated to serving nonprofits and philanthropists.
Founded in 2000 and incubated at Bain, The Bridgespan Group brings Bain-quality strategic thinking to the nonprofit world. The Bridgespan Group is the preeminent consulting firm of its type, and offers additional services in nonprofit executive search and philanthropy advising. Its roster of nearly 450 clients served includes organizations such as Harlem Children's Zone, Youth Villages and Omidyar Network, as well as several major foundations.
Bridgespan is a proof point for Bain's innovation and desire to build capacity in the social sector. Bridgespan draws on Bain's intellectual property, and Bain on Bridgespan's, to provide clients with the most effective management insights and tools. For instance, Bain has a well-established approach to helping clients build more effective organizations, including a powerful decision rights tool known as RAPID®. Bain and Bridgespan collaborated to tailor the approach for the nonprofit sector, where it has been used by leading organizations such as Aspire Public Schools.
Bain and Bridgespan hold joint worldwide training sessions and offer a robust externship program. Every year, a select group of Bain consultants work for Bridgespan as externs.
