Because delivering results is so important, we are selective about the clients we work with. Rather than developing relationships based on size or sizzle, we choose clients who are bold, ambitious leaders who are not satisfied with the status quo and are eager for change.
In the past, we hadn't found many such leaders in the public sector, which is why our work in that arena was limited. Today, however, we are seeing more and more, and we are partnering with a number of them on a variety of innovative projects.
Change-oriented leaders in a Middle Eastern government, for example, engaged us to help improve family services in their country. We also helped develop a strategy for an agency that supports entrepreneurship in this nation—a strategy that encouraged the government to double the agency's funding.
Another change-oriented leader is François-Daniel Migeon, who heads up the French government's far-ranging Révision générale des politiques publiques (RGPP), a reform policy to modernize France's public services. RGPP encompasses more than 450 change initiatives among 18 ministries. A Bain team worked on streamlining dozens of interactions between citizens and the government, such as enabling French citizens to enroll in the electoral lists online.
