Why Bain?
Bain provides a unique opportunity to work on challenging,
interesting cases and help solve problems that keep CEOs awake at
night. It fosters rapid learning and personal growth. Most
importantly, I get to work with world class individuals who never
cease to impress me at work, and who always ensure you have a great
time along the way.
My passion at Bain and outside of the
office?
I love to try different things. Bain is a fast-paced environment
where everyone gets involved. Whether it's playing soccer or
ultimate, volunteering with non-profits, organizing a ski trip, or
just grabbing a drink after work, there are always people willing
to tag along. With this constant stream of excitement, you can't
help but be swept away and discover activities you never even knew
existed.
My favorite (recent) case
My favourite case was working with a consumer packaged goods
company to redesign their route to market. They were considering a
drastic change to their business and turned to Bain to tell them
whether it was a good idea and if so, how to approach it. I had the
opportunity to work very closely with another AC as we tackled a
massive modeling exercise. As the case progressed, we were
repeatedly challenged with increased responsibilities and ended up
providing the key numbers supporting the client's eventual
decisions. Along the way I got fantastic advice and encouragement
from the CTL, manager and partner on the case. And of course had
lot of fun.
My personal results story
Coming from an engineering background I was nervous about how
prepared I would be for Bain. But after a month of Associate
Consultant Training (ACT) and pre-ACT, I was ready to tackle my
first case. A year into the job, not only was I confident in my
ability to contribute, but I was amazed by how much I had learned
over the past 12 months.
A final thought
There is no question that Bain provides tough challenges, exciting
opportunities and a chance to work with great people. If you're
trying to decide between firms, pick the one where you connect best
with the people - at the end of the day, they're the ones who are
going to make or break your experience.
