Toronto career path

We conduct on-campus recruiting efforts from September through December for full-time hires and from January to March for our summer program. We also encourage qualified candidates from other schools or industry to apply.
Associate consultants

Associate consultants (ACs) are typically recent university graduates who, in their first year at Bain, will spend 50% of their first two months in training. Case assignments generally last three to six months and are focused on the data-driven analysis, which sets Bain apart.

There is also a tremendous amount of "apprentice" learning from senior members of the team. After their first two years at Bain, ACs may be promoted to senior associate consultants (SAC), taking on more challenging assignments in terms of analytics, client issues and leadership role. Case assignments take into consideration each AC's personal and professional needs and match them with the appropriate challenges.

Consultants

Consultants are typically recent MBA graduates, though other graduate programs are represented.

Bain Toronto consultants work on individual projects integrated within a team of six to eight people. The analytical problems given to first-year consultants are significant and supported by teams, training and inter-office experience-sharing. Client exposure generally begins quickly and grows with the consultant's skills and confidence.

Near the end of their first year, consultants begin taking on more responsibility, including managing junior team members and leading client meetings. During this time, the scope of work assigned to a consultant will broaden significantly. Some time during their third year, a high-performing consultant will be given the opportunity to manage a small team as a case team leader. This offers a chance for the consultant to develop his/her managerial skills.

Internships

The Toronto office offers an exceptional internship program to learn about the consulting industry and Bain & Company. For students between their third and fourth years of university, we offer the associate consultant intern (ACI) opportunity.

While the summer associate (SA) program is for students between their first and second years of business school.

Our Summer Program is focused on providing hands-on experience. There is no make-work, or time spent on academic studies—it is the real job. Assignments have ranged from operational improvement in transportation, to corporate strategy in telecommunications, to diligence work in our private equity group. Significant on-the-job learning takes place as they work with their Bain team and get to know our people and our culture.
