Certainly, we work incredibly hard, but the level of support that Bain gives us in return to pursue our passions is unheard of. The advice I give new Bainies is to give 100% to Bain, and you’ll get so much more than that in return! double-quote-close

Why Bain?

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do out of my MBA program. As an American who had only really worked in the US, the one thing I knew was that I wanted to see the world and learn how to do business in other cultures. I ended up at the Bain open house where I met Bainies from Europe, the Middle East and Asia. I went through the recruitment process and Bain was willing to give me the opportunity to live and work in Singapore, so I took the offer to join as a summer associate. Here I am, several years later, back at home!

My passion

I am passionate about airlines and social impact. That's an unusual combination, and Bain lets me work on both!

Outside the office, I enjoy travelling, running, yoga and classical music.

My favorite case

I worked on an organizational design case for an industry trade association, end-to-end from a diagnostic all the way through to implementation. I got to meet lots of people in the industry and organizational design projects allow you to get to know your clients in a particularly deep way; a lot of my clients have become close friends. It's also a project that I think will also impact the industry more broadly – this macro-level impact is why I joined Bain.

My personal results story

I have been involved in leading social impact efforts in our London office. There are two things I'm proud of: first, we launched an incubator, where we invited early-stage social enterprises to compete in a dragons' den event for funding and consulting support to accelerate their work. It was very successful and has now become a regular thing with deepening partnerships in the space. And it all started as an amazing idea that some of our new ACs came up with! Second, I led a pro bono project for one of the UK's largest venture philanthropists on core strategy. It was inspiring to see how much support (financial and otherwise) there is out there for social impact, and to help to channel this in a really effective way.

My perspective on diversity at Bain

Diversity is a broad concept. What I'm most amazed by is the diversity of experiences people have had at Bain, how willing they are to share, and how humble they are about their achievements.

I think this diversity of experiences is especially powerful in helping clients to achieve results and especially in the organization work I do. We have to be able to interact with people from all perspectives, and I think we are uniquely able to do that – our clients tell us that we are down-to-earth and easy to work with, and that comes from our respect for diversity.

I'm especially proud to be part of the Washington, DC Bain team, where people have come from all over the Bain system to be part of our really exciting growth story.

A final thought

Bain is amazing because it lets you create and 'make it your own.' I've gotten to focus on the industry I care about, do amazing social impact work, take time off to rest, and travel the world.

Certainly, we work incredibly hard, but the level of support that Bain gives us in return to pursue our passions is unheard of. The advice I give new Bainies is to give 100% to Bain, and you’ll get so much more than that in return!
