1. Can you introduce yourself and your role at Bain? 

I’m the Marketing Director for Bain & Company in the Middle East, where I focus on promoting our brand and strengthening relationships with target clients. My role spans strategic communications, including PR, events, and social media, ensuring Bain’s expertise and thought leadership are effectively showcased across the region. 

2. Why did you attend COP29 / What role did you take in the event? 

I attended COP29 as marketing support for our consulting partners, with a focus on amplifying Bain & Company's Middle East presence during this globally significant event. My role included coordinating on-ground panel discussions, overseeing PR and social media activity, and ensuring Bain's contributions were effectively communicated to stakeholders. 
 
On a personal note, the event provided a wonderful opportunity to visit my extended family in Baku, as my wife is from Azerbaijan, and to experience the city during this key global gathering. 

3. What were the most memorable discussions or sessions you witnessed? 

There were a number of key panel discussions and presentations at COP29, but the most impactful for me centered around the integration of renewable energy technologies, AI in sustainability, and pathways for decarbonizing complex supply chains.  
 
A few of the memorable sessions also highlighted innovative sustainability financing models and global efforts to meet Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions goals.  

4. How did the event address the current trends and challenges in climate action? 

Some of the most memorable discussions revolved around the integration of advanced technologies, such as AI, to drive sustainability initiatives and optimize carbon reductions across industries. Panel discussions highlighted the critical importance of accelerating renewable energy adoption, with inspiring case studies of how technology and policy innovations are transforming energy systems.  
 
Sessions also delved into sustainability financing models, showcasing examples of partnerships that have successfully mobilized resources to support decarbonization and circular economy initiatives. These discussions underscored the collaborative spirit required to tackle the challenges of climate action, with an emphasis on the need for businesses to set measurable, pragmatic goals that align with global priorities. 

5. What were the key takeaways from the event that you believe are most relevant to Bain and its clients? 

Key takeaways include the necessity of aligning decarbonization goals with pragmatic business strategies, leveraging AI to enhance efficiency and resilience, and focusing on stakeholder collaboration to drive sustainability outcomes.  
 
Bain's approach of integrating sustainability into core business strategies was reinforced as a pathway for long-term competitive advantage.
