Expand your global Bain network on day one with the benefits of two offices as your home base
As we invest in transformative global experiences for our consultants, we’re excited to launch our new Global Fellows: Africa program.
If you want to work in Africa, the Global Fellows: Africa program ensures that will be part of your Bain experience. As a Global Fellow, you’ll join any global office as a consultant with the benefits of two home offices, spend an immersive week in Africa during your first year, and embark on a short-term transfer to Africa after your first year.
On your transfer, you’ll fully experience our business in Africa from our home base in Johannesburg, while joining case teams serving the entire continent. Alongside our transformational casework, you’ll find non-profit client work, private equity work, social entrepreneurship initiatives, and pro bono efforts with Bridgespan.
Global Fellows is a highly selective program. It is currently open to MBA students graduating in 2023 with existing ties to Africa or a demonstrated commitment to working in Africa.
As a Global Fellow, you’ll join a cohort of incoming consultants across the globe with a shared passion for working in Africa. Each of you will receive:
Opportunities to join cases teams serving Bain Africa’s diverse client portfolio, including multinational organizations, JSE Top 40 firms, state-owned enterprises, financial investors, non-profits, and companies driving economic development across the continent.
Mentors in your first Bain home office and in Bain Africa to help build and maintain a global support system from day one.
Membership in a community of other Global Fellows with opportunities to connect via social events and experience-shares. Additional support from Blacks at Bain (BABs) and Blacks at Bain South Africa (BABSA).
Bain opened its Johannesburg office in 1997, serving a broad range of clients across the continent’s largest, most rapidly changing sectors. Completing projects throughout sub-Saharan Africa, our consulting and pro bono work supports the continent’s broad transformation agenda.
Bain South Africa is committed to contributing to the betterment of local society, particularly in efforts that improve social and economic conditions of those in need.
Since space for this program is limited, Global Fellows: Africa is currently open to MBA students graduating from business school in 2022 or 2023.
If you are an incoming 2023 Consultant at Bain and are interested in becoming a Global Fellow, please take two actions:
1. Join our mailing list to formally express interest in Global Fellows.
2. Once we've received your interest, we will follow up directly about next steps via email. They will include submitting a written interest statement and an experiential interview.
If you are not an incoming consultant but have interest in the program, please email GlobalFellowsAfrica@bain.com.
Yes, we will provide support for securing work authorization.
No, we offer generous relocation support for your transfer. We will also fully sponsor your weeklong trip to Johannesburg.
As a Global Fellow, you must be fluent in English, but there are no additional language requirements.
We expect most transfers will be six months long. A longer-term or permanent transfer is also an option.
After joining any Bain office as a consultant for at least 12 months, you can initiate your transfer to Africa, provided you are in good standing at the 12-month mark.
We expect most Global Fellows will return to their first home office. But if you are interested in permanently staying in Africa, that is also an option.
