It’s unlikely that you’ll meet your client’s CEO off the bat. You also won’t create multibillion-dollar recommendations on your own.

First, you’ll need to learn the fundamentals of the job—but don't worry about formal preparation, as most firms have highly effective training programs in place.

Needless to say, strategy consulting firms offer exceptional opportunities. In return, however, those firms only hire a select number of extraordinary people.

The most successful applicants display outstanding analytic chops throughout the interview process, particularly during real-life "case interviews." Strong interpersonal skills are also crucial, as the industry involves substantial teamwork and relationship management.
