Andreas Kaempf

Andreas is a member of our Analytics, Insights and Solutions Group (AIS).

In early 2023, he was appointed to lead the new Generative AI Ringfence for EMEA, a group comprising experts who are focused on building solutions using OpenAI and other generative AI models. In this role, he advises clients on AI, data and analytics strategy, and helps Bain to deliver advanced solutions to clients in life sciences, financial services, automotive, consumer goods, retail, and other sectors.

Prior to joining us, he held CTO and other leadership roles in two UK-based AI start-ups. He also built a business that consulted in classical music, financial services, and pharmaceuticals/biotech. Long interested in the simulation of complex systems, he helped build the system dynamics group at another global consulting firm and also worked at Pugh Roberts Associates, a pioneer in the application of system dynamics to business strategy. He began his career at Air Canada, building and leading its first team focused on the use of microcomputers for analytic and operational problems.

Andreas earned a BCom in statistics and economics from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, focusing on strategy and system dynamics. He lives in Munich with his wife (a concert violinist) and two children. In his free time, he enjoys hiking in the Alps, listening to music and opera, and pushing the boundaries of fast programming languages.
