Hi, my name is Rajiv, and I’m a senior manager within our strategy practice in the Seattle office. Learn more about me and my time at Bain through some Q&A.
What did you do before Bain and why did you decide to join the firm?
I worked in institutional banking in Australia, where I worked with large-scale corporations on a range of financial products. I wanted to go into consulting to focus on more strategic issues, rather than only financial ones. I instantly felt the best fit and connection with Bain—the diverse groups of people, the opportunities available and the challenging work appealed and excited me.
Speaking of connection and types of people, how have you established your own personal community at Bain? What does that community mean to you?
At Bain, you are able to build a diverse cross-office personal community quickly. There are those who you started with, who graduated from the same school, who have risen through the ranks with you, your mentors, team members and office mates, all of whom shape you and can be a soundboard for whatever challenge you might be facing.
How have you "built your own Bain?"
I was able to move to Seattle in 2019 and take on a practice senior manager role within the strategy practice. This has allowed me to get a deeper understanding, but also help evolve our strategy products, IP and tools that can our help clients. Evolving my skillset through this role, in addition to the consulting skillset I developed, has definitely allowed me to think more strategically about some of the issues that our clients face.
Tell us about some of your interests or passions outside of or at Bain.
I love all sports, but particularly cricket, Australian Rules football and soccer. I also enjoy traveling and experiencing local cultures. Having grown up in Melbourne and now living in Seattle, I have an appreciation for cities with a strong coffee culture and exploring different cafes, which I’ve have been luckily able to do in both cities where I’ve been with Bain.
