To navigate the energy and resource transition, companies in those sectors will need to expand their talent management skills. They will need to retain and reskill today’s workers while integrating new people with varied backgrounds and capabilities, ensuring that everyone feels like a valued contributor. Bain’s recent research found that inclusivity is more important in the US energy sector than any we surveyed, with nearly four out of five employees saying it was very important. But we also found that many senior executives may have a rosier picture of inclusivity at their companies than the new hires they’re hoping will build careers there, with executives rating every factor higher than did more junior team members.
