David Ellis is a partner in Bain & Company's Sydney office. He leads Bain's Enterprise Technology practice in Australia.
David has 20 years of consulting and industry experience that spans Sydney, Hong Kong, Auckland, London, Frankfurt and Munich.
In his role at Bain, he supports large organizations in successfully planning and executing business transformations where IT is a major enabler. His areas of focus include digital and IT strategy, IT operating model, vendor selection / partnerships and delivery assurance.
Prior to Bain, David was a Managing Director within a global consulting and systems integration firm for 7 years, most recently as the Telecoms Industry Lead for APAC. During this time, he supported clients in a variety of areas, including transformation planning and execution, deployment of various cloud technologies (incl. Salesforce, CloudSense, ServiceNow), partnerships / alliances, operations outsourcing and post-merger integration.
Before this, he held a number of senior management positions in telecommunication turnarounds, heading Group Technology & Transformation Office through the $3 billion transformation of Telecom New Zealand, and leading the Voice Business at Cable & Wireless following the merger with Energis.
David began his career as a consultant in London and Frankfurt, and also enjoyed spells as a venture capitalist at Morgan Stanley and a within a Munich-based wireless start-up that he co-founded.
David holds MA, MEng and PGCDMM degrees from the University of Cambridge, and has been invited back on numerous times to act as a guest lecturer.
