About Ted

Ted Rouse is a leader in Bain & Company’s M&A practice, with specific expertise in merger integration, as well as a leader in the firm's Advanced Manufacturing & ServicesAutomotive and Aerospace, Defense & Government Services practices. 

Ted joined Bain & Company in 1982 and became a partner in 1988. He was the managing partner of the Chicago office for ten years, served on the company's board of directors for five years and led the firm's product development activities for several years. He also formerly served as the leader of Bain's Industrial practice for three years and was co-leader of Bain's Global M&A practice for almost a decade.

Ted has worked closely with a variety of industrial clients in the automotive, defense, aerospace, electronics, heavy vehicle and chemicals industries on a wide range of strategy and operating improvement issues. These have included growth and business unit strategy, restructuring, complexity reduction, manufacturing cost reduction and operations improvement.

He has particular expertise in acquisition strategy and merger integration and the use of M&A in driving profitable growth, and he has supported dozens of merger integration projects over the last 20 years. He has also authored numerous articles on these topics for the likes of the Wall Street Journal and the Harvard Business Review and is frequently quoted in a variety of business publications. Ted has also appeared on CNBC's Closing Bell.

Ted holds a BA in economics from Williams College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
