Hi, I'm Yongsuk. I've always been passionate about coaching and helping people excel. In college, I realized that consulting would allow me to tackle business problems for local as well as global companies. Through a number of café chats and informational interviews, I decided that Bain was the right fit for me because of its fun culture, incredibly smart people and reputation in the private equity field. And I still think it was the best choice I have ever made.
Since I joined Bain, I've worked mostly on due diligence cases in Seoul with the Private Equity Group. In almost a year and a half, my professional development has been truly amazing. I've learned various due diligence processes, data analytics and financial modeling. Also, my role on the team has changed from a learner to a coach for more junior members.
"At Bain, we learn from each other, and I love to be in a position where I can help my colleagues to excel, sharing my know-how."
A few months ago, I worked on a commercial due diligence case for a global consumer packaged goods company. We thoroughly analyzed every piece of information regarding the target company and successfully delivered the results. In the end, the client bought the target company, and the acquisition was widely published in the media. Making a real impact in the world and seeing the consequences made me feel very proud of myself and my team.
Before Bain, I was an amateur boxer and worked as a boxing coach at a gym for about three years. It’s been a while, but I recently resumed boxing during my long vacation. It's nice to do physical exercise to refresh sometimes, and I hope I can keep it up.
The most essential thing when you apply to Bain is to know yourself. We evaluate your performance not only based on case interviews, but also on your personality and fit. You should think about how you will show us your unique personality. At the end of the day, we hire candidates that Bain consultants would love to work with. So be yourself during the interview, and hope to see you here!
