Many luxury companies are seeking to cut rather than expand their presence in China due to fears of an economic slowdown. According to Claudia D'Arpizio, a partner in Bain & Company's Milan office, while Chinese consumer confidence has been affected recently, it is still important for brands to have a footprint in the region.
