Share your journey to Bain.

I was recruited to Bain in 2016 while pursuing my undergraduate degree at the Lahore University of Management Sciences. At the time, Bain, and management consulting in general, were largely unknown in Pakistan. I clearly remember learning about them in my junior year when Bain conducted its first recruitment drive in the country.

Since then, I was so impressed by the impactful work that management consultants do and by Bain's unique approach to delivering meaningful results while fostering a supportive and collaborative culture that I focused all my efforts on becoming a Bainie.

Do you feel like you can do impactful work at Bain? What opportunities excite you?

I am continuously amazed by the high-impact and groundbreaking work we do at Bain and the exposure it provides to consultants like myself. Over the past few years, I’ve had the opportunity to help transform a specialized public sector university, saving it from bankruptcy, set up a new government entity to promote local food processing and reduce reliance on imports, and conduct an accelerated cost transformation for one of the largest F&B companies in the Middle East.

These projects not only deliver meaningful, observable results for our clients but also encourage us to think outside the box and design innovative solutions. These are the aspects of my work that excite me the most.  

“Build Your Own Bain” means creating a thriving career on your own terms. How have you been able to “Build Your Own Bain?”

When I first joined Bain, I had absolutely no idea what I wanted to work on. Luckily, Bain's generalist approach to consulting quickly exposed me to various industries including the public sector, telecommunications, and advanced manufacturing & services as well as different capabilities such as strategy & transformation, private equity, performance improvement, customer experience, and operating model.

Eventually, I found my home in the consumer products & retail practice and have continued to specialize in strategy and performance improvement within the sector.
