WHAT MAKES US A GREAT PLACE TO WORK

We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the world’s best places to work. We are currently the #1 ranked consulting firm on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list and have maintained a spot in the top four on Glassdoor’s list since its founding in 2009. Extraordinary teams are at the heart of our business strategy, but these don’t happen by chance. They require intentional focus on bringing together a broad set of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, perspectives, and skills in a supportive and inclusive work environment. We hire people with exceptional talent and create an environment in which every individual can thrive professionally and personally.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You’ll join our Insights experts within the AI, Insights & Solutions team. This team is part of Bain’s digital capabilities practice, which includes experts in analytics, engineering, product management, and design. In this multidisciplinary environment, you'll leverage deep technical expertise with business acumen to help clients tackle their most transformative challenges. You’ll work on integrated teams alongside our general consultants and clients to develop data-driven strategies and innovative solutions. Together, we create human-centric solutions that harness the power of data and artificial intelligence to drive competitive advantage for our clients. Our collaborative and supportive work environment fosters creativity and continuous learning, enabling us to consistently deliver exceptional results.

WHERE YOU'LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

Private Equity (PE), it is in our DNA. We are the world’s leading consulting firm for the Private Equity industry — with a global practice more than three times the size of our nearest competitor. PE comprises about one-third of our global business, having grown eightfold in the last 18 years.

We partner with Private Equity funds throughout the entire investment cycle. We help focus deal generation and sector screening process. On a deal, we conduct due diligences to ensure the deals they pursue are attractive and identify the right investment thesis and winning approach strategy. In post-acquisition, we support the pursuit of rapid returns by developing strategic blueprints for acquired companies, leading workshops that align management with strategic priorities, and directing focused initiatives. Finally, we help funds and investors prepare for sale, through pre-sale strategy work and vendor due diligences.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a member of Bain’s AIS Private Equity team and part of the Insights Data Science group you will work in a supportive environment, leveraging learnings and best practices and tools built by the team. On client engagements, you will work together with AIS leaders and generalist consulting teams on challenging and exciting analytical problems that are common in the different stages of Private Equity projects.

Some examples of analytical methods that you will be using on such projects are the following (not exhaustive):

  • Integrate and wrangle data that comes from different sources to extract critical insights which are required for valuations of companies
  • Use location intelligence to make conclusions around how many new stores a deal target can expect to build, and where; marry demographic and competitive data to understand key drivers of store performance
  • Analyze large amounts of transactional data to measure cross-sell or up-sell potential, understand and measure the size of the most typical consumer cohorts, assess churn, and ultimately help funds decide on risks or potential upsides
  • Execute fuzzy matching techniques to match data elements from disparate data sets to paint a complete picture of data assets required for analysis
  • Build dynamic data visualizations on operational data, which help in doing thorough performance assessments
  • Define consumer segmentations (cluster analyses) based on primary research data
  • Coordinate with internal and 3rd party data providers for sourcing of critical data elements
  • Establish automated data pull pipelines to accelerate the speed at which Bain delivers insights

A large mandate of our AIS PE team is to innovate and develop new tools and approaches for advanced analytics in PE. With support from the senior leaders both on the analytics and PE sides, you would get the chance to own and develop new tools to e.g. offer new types of analysis to our PE clients, further refine approaches to better comply with short PE timelines, build out automated, visual tools that can be directly used by teams or by funds, etc. Generative AI based methods and solutions are becoming an integral part of this tool development process. This critical component of the role offers significant ability to drive ownership of the work.
