I’m from a small hometown in Tennessee, so my knowledge of consulting and professional services was essentially zero. I first heard about consulting from a peer and mentor in the music department who joined Bain as an intern, and I learned much more once I started business school.
Solving high-impact problems at some of the world’s top companies sounded phenomenal, especially because my “career” up to that point had been running a small landscaping business in my hometown. Over time, I gained confidence by pursuing my passions, primarily through my involvement in the music department, and building relevant work experience. I feel fortunate to have been offered a role here, and I now try to give back by dedicating as much time and energy as I can to helping Emory students and BFLI candidates prepare for interviews.
How did you know that Bain was the right company for you?
Throughout networking and recruiting, I felt a cultural fit unlike anything I experienced with other firms. As I progressed through the interview process, I was continually impressed by each Bainie I spoke with and felt genuinely supported.
Beyond cultural fit, which was my top priority, I wanted to be surrounded by people who would challenge me, push my professional development, and become long-term connections, not just colleagues. Bain overdelivers on all of these boxes and is truly a collection of some of the brightest minds I’ve met. No other firm compares to what Bain offers.

One of my most exciting projects at Bain involved working on a highly confidential strategic partnership. Knowing that I was one of a small group of people globally with visibility into the work motivated me to ramp up quickly, as I understood I was helping build groundbreaking IP that would be used in future projects. At the same time, it was rewarding to gain competency in a complex subject and become an internal resource on transformative technology.
