Share your journey to Bain.
I started as a pre-med student at Williams but quickly realized I valued the breadth of a liberal arts education too much to specialize immediately. Through Eph alums at Bain, I was introduced to consulting and saw it as the liberal arts of careers, offering exposure to diverse industries while emphasizing the same problem-solving and collaborative work I most enjoyed at Williams.
“Build Your Own Bain” means creating a thriving career on your own terms. How have you been able to “Build Your Own Bain?”
I’ve been drawn to social impact work and have actively sought opportunities to explore it alongside my case work. The externship program allowed me to step into strategy work in a different context, and I especially valued my time at the Gates Foundation, where I gained exposure to how non-profit orgs tackle more ambiguous problems. I am also the client development lead for Inspire Boston (a nonprofit for junior consultants) where I connect with local orgs with pro bono strategic support.
Share some of your favorite work (personal or professional) you’ve done while at Bain.
Some of my favorite experiences at Bain have come from travel cases, which allow close client collaboration with the chance to experience new cities alongside my team. One of my favorite moments at Bain came at the end of a six-month M&A case, when we visited our partner in Denver and attended a Sting concert at Red Rocks.
