Ian Wells is a member of our AI, Insights, & Solutions and Energy & Natural Resources practices.
He is a hands-on practitioner and experienced leader of digital, advanced analytics, and AI programs across the oil and gas, power, mining, and metals industries. At Bain, he advises clients and senior teams on applied AI and AI strategy. Ian has partnered with some of the world’s largest energy and materials companies to deliver complex AI solutions—from early-stage ideation through to scaled value—across use cases such as process optimization, predictive control, performance improvement, and forecasting.
Before joining Bain, Ian was a consultant and data scientist at a leading global consultancy. He previously worked as an engineer on the International Space Station program at The Boeing Company.
He holds a BSEE in electrical and computer engineering and a BA in managerial studies, both from Rice University. He lives in Houston, Texas.
