Karim Ahmad

Karim Ahmad is a member of our Financial Services practice, and an expert in product-led growth in the payments eco-system.

He has extensive experience helping banks, payments processors, retailers and technology companies respond to the on-going disruption of the payments industry. His work focuses on areas including growth strategy, product management, new product development, platform transformation and business scaling for hyper-growth.

During his initial period at Bain from 2003-2016, Karim led a variety of engagements covering the payments processing, retail banking, credit card issuance and insurance industries. In these engagements, he advised clients on issues such as product development, platform assessment, launch strategy, mobile strategy and strategic partnerships.

Following this role, Karim led Product and Technology at Trustly Group, establishing an account to account payment and data proposition in 18 countries. He also worked as CPO at Paysafe and EVP Product and Innovation at TSYS’ issuing business before rejoining Bain in 2022.

Karim earned a bachelor's degree from Vassar College in economics and Russian history, as well as an MA in history from Columbia University and an MBA from the University of Virginia.

Outside of Bain, he is an avid road cyclist and consumer of fiction.
