Description & Requirements

WHAT MAKES US A GREAT PLACE TO WORK

We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the world’s best places to work. We are currently the top ranked consulting firm on Glassdoor's Best Places to Work list and have earned the #1 overall spot a record seven times. Extraordinary teams are at the heart of our business strategy, but these don’t happen by chance. They require intentional focus on bringing together a broad set of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, perspectives, and skills in a supportive and inclusive work environment. We hire people with exceptional talent and create an environment in which every individual can thrive professionally and personally.

WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

You'll join Bain's NextGen Software Solutions (NGSS) team, where we build and support software products that help power the firm's work.

As a Staff Architect II, you'll be the technical owner of a Coro product workstream within NGSS. The Coro team is focused on building and scaling Bain's proprietary data and product ecosystem. We develop and manage platforms such as BizMap and Helix, which power data-driven insights and solutions across Bain's commercial and private equity practices.

WHERE YOU'LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM

As a Staff Architect II, you'll play a hands-on engineering leadership role - writing code, setting technical standards, reviewing the team's work, and driving the architectural direction and delivery of your workstream.

You'll partner closely with Product Managers to translate the product roadmap into actionable engineering plans, mentor engineers, remove technical blockers, and serve as the primary technical liaison between product leadership and Bain's broader platform teams. You'll also lead the workstream's operational excellence by overseeing production support, triaging system issues, providing Level 1 and Level 2 troubleshooting, and managing code deployments.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Architecture & Technical Governance

  • Provide technical leadership, governance and architectural direction to internal and external development teams on the design, development, implementation, and deployment of highly usable and scalable software
  • Participate in system coding and engineering alongside development teams, including performing formal code reviews and providing feedback on the structure, maintainability and quality of code
  • Produce, communicate and maintain technical designs, architecture artifacts, best practice, and principles for technical and executive-level audiences
  • Define and document the workstream architecture, ensuring alignment with the shared platform design and Bain-wide Azure, make key design decisions on data flow, service boundaries, and integration patterns
  • Collaborate with AI Engineers to design LLM orchestration and tool-calling architecture for product-specific agents, ensuring reliability, maintainability, and cost efficiency at scale

Delivery & Roadmap Execution

  • Work with Product Managers to translate prioritized epics into concrete technical scopes, estimating complexity, flagging dependencies, and sequencing work across the team
  • Own sprint-level task assignment, remove blockers, and ensure the team delivers against committed timelines and roadmap commitments

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and grow multiple engineering teams across products, services, and projects
  • Run technical standups, manage individual workloads, provide structured feedback, and grow junior engineers while maintaining delivery pace
  • Support team in recruiting activities (resume screening, interviews, etc.)

Stakeholder Alignment

  • Ensure the workstream's builds stay compatible with and contribute back to the shared Bain platform
  • Represent the workstream team in technical touchpoints with practice leadership and external engineering partners

Innovation & Emerging Technologies

  • Drive innovation through out-of-the-box thinking to solve critical business challenges and demands
  • Participate in technical discovery, POCs, and innovation workstreams to validate new tools, technologies, and designs
  • Investigate and keep up-to-date on emerging data, AI, and agentic technologies and trends; lead knowledge sharing
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, willing to try new approaches
  • Comfortable in a consulting-adjacent product context, turning ambiguous requirements into well-scoped engineering work
