Description & Requirements
WHAT MAKES US A GREAT PLACE TO WORK
We are proud to be consistently recognized as one of the world’s best places to work. We are currently the top ranked consulting firm on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work list and have earned the #1 overall spot a record seven times. Extraordinary teams are at the heart of our business strategy, but these don’t happen by chance. They require intentional focus on bringing together a broad set of backgrounds, cultures, experiences, perspectives, and skills in a supportive and inclusive work environment. We hire people with exceptional talent and create an environment in which every individual can thrive professionally and personally.
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You’ll join the Product, Practice and Knowledge (PPK) group within Bain. Practices are how we group and organize our solutions and products based on our clients’ industry or business function. They are integral to how we win and deliver results for our clients and are a key strategic priority for the firm. Operations roles are critical in helping drive and measure the strategic direction and day-to-day effectiveness of a practice.
This role sits within Bain’s People & Organization practice, which supports CEOs and leadership teams in unlocking the power of their people to deliver organizational strategy. The practice is a global capability that cuts across all of Bain’s industries, with solutions spanning operating model design, agile transformation, talent, culture and behavior change, and leadership.
WHERE YOU’LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
As an Operations Manager, you will independently manage global practice operations while working closely with senior practice leadership to support strategy execution. You’ll provide insights and recommendations grounded in rigorous analysis, ensure progress against key initiatives, and help create a single source of truth for leadership decision-making through high-quality reporting and data synthesis.
You’ll also play an important role in tracking and deploying practice affiliates, experts, and advisors, as well as supporting commercial activities across the practice.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Support and drive the global practice planning process, including managing solution and regional inputs for annual budgets and reforecasts, realignments, and trade-offs
Design and execute practice reporting, implementing repeatable models, improving efficiency, and enhancing visualizations using modern analytics and AI-enabled tools
Prepare materials for senior leadership meetings and key stakeholders, including client-ready content on practice performance
Meet regularly with regional leaders to review practice performance, discuss engagement activity, and align on priority actions
Support leadership on practice meetings and calls, overseeing operations-related content and coordinating logistics with the Events team
Monitor the commercial pipeline, drive agreed mobilization actions, and prepare materials for pipeline and commercial calls
Own affiliate member administration within the practice, including expertise tracking and support to HLA processes and resourcing decisions
Oversee the production and drafting of newsletters, contribute to additional projects, and perform select ad hoc analyses
Work effectively across practices, ensuring seamless coordination, strong information sharing, and early identification of roadblocks
Supervise one junior team member and support the training, coaching, and oversight of other junior colleagues when involved in operations work
ABOUT YOU
Bachelor’s degree (Arts, Engineering, Science, or equivalent) with strong academic credentials; concentrations in Statistics, Business, or Economics are relevant; MBA is a plus
6+ years of experience in a professional services firm environment
Strong intellectual curiosity, positive mindset, and consistent track record of delivering results
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong planning and prioritization skills
Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities, with a drive for experimentation and innovation
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft tools and automation applications (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Python), with experience in data modeling, analysis, and tools such as Alteryx, Tableau, and AI/GPT-based solutions
High standards for quality, accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to establish credibility with senior stakeholders
Collaborative team player with the ability to motivate others and adapt to the needs of the practice and its leaders
Comfortable operating independently with a remote supervisor and managing competing priorities with minimal oversight
