Press release
LISBON—May 10, 2022—Bain & Company, the global business and management consultancy, announces the opening of its office in Lisbon, a move sparked by the firm’s expanding client base of successful Portuguese businesses and the strength of client demand for its advice and services.
“This is a tremendously exciting time for our business,” said Ignacio Otero, Iberia managing partner at Bain & Company. “This new permanent office in Lisbon is just one of the many investments we are making in Iberia, reflecting our confidence in the continued growth of Portugal’s economy, as well as our commitment to better serve the increasing number of priority client relationships we have in the region.”
Bain’s expansion across Iberia comes as the latest forecasts for Portugal, released by the International Monetary Fund on April 19, show its economy is expected to expand by a robust 4% this year.
Bain’s Lisbon office represents the official arrival of one of the world's leading consulting firms to the city. It builds on the firm’s work in Portugal beginning nearly two decades ago with some of the most influential domestic and international companies across all key industries, including Financial Services, Energy & Natural Resources, Retail, and Advanced Manufacturing Services. The firm is widely recognized as the leading partner to the Private Equity industry, regionally and globally.
In addition to bringing the firm closer to many of its enduring clients in Portugal and Iberia as a whole, the new Lisbon office uniquely positions Bain to help companies take ambitious steps: our mission in Portugal as well as around the world is help our customers generate levels of value such that together we set new standards of excellence in our industries.
In addition to Ignacio Otero, Iberia managing partner, Bain Lisbon’s experienced leadership team includes João Soares, Clara Albuquerque, Álvaro Pires, Francisco Montenegro, and José Baptista. The local team will continue to work in partnership with our other Iberia office in Madrid and the rest of our offices in EMEA.
Bain’s new Lisbon office will also play a critical role as a Talent Hub as well as Advanced Analytics Hub for Private Equity clients in the region. Recognized globally as a great place to work, the firm, which has maintained its spot in the top four on Glassdoor’s ‘Best Places to Work’ list for the last 14 years, hopes its permanent and expanded presence in Lisbon will further support its efforts to attract the best homegrown talent Portugal has to offer.
The opening of the firm’s Lisbon office brings the total number of Bain offices in EMEA to 26.
