Press release
SAO PAULO – February 4, 2022 – Bain & Company has completed its acquisition of the Chile-based company, Spike SpA, a leading provider of advanced analytics and machine learning solutions, which operates across various industries in the South American region. The new acquisition takes place as Bain celebrates 25 years of operations in Latin America, having opened its Brazil office in 1997, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to investing in new skills and innovation.
“Bain’s South American operations have seen robust, double-digit growth in recent years, with our local team of data scientists and engineers increasing by more than three times in 2021 alone”, says Alfredo Pinto, Bain & Company’s office head for South America. “A strong analytical foundation is key to our consulting business, and we had already been working in partnership with Spike to strengthen that team. This acquisition will boost our expertise in innovation and our ability to deliver unsurpassed results to our clients, sustaining this superior performance going forward.”
This acquisition is the culmination of a partnership that has already been adding value to clients of Bain’s advanced analytics projects, bringing together the best of both Bain and Spike—technical expertise combined with business acumen, to deliver tangible results to clients.
Bain will reinforce its São Paulo office’s structure by launching an Innovation Hub for South America later this year, which will have about 150 consultants and specialists dedicated to its work. Bain’s Innovation Hubs provide an ideal launching pad for clients’ innovation efforts, enabling them to connect with the firm’s experts and ecosystem of startups to co-create products and experiences that will accelerate the development of their businesses. Bain currently operates 10 innovation hubs out of its global offices, including in the United States, Italy, England, Denmark, Germany, India, China, Singapore and Australia.
Together, the acquisition and the São Paulo Innovation Hub will contribute to strengthening Bain’s Vector practice, a platform that joins people, processes, technologies and services to drive innovation and accelerate transformation. The Vector practice includes capabilities, such as consumer experience (CX), digital marketing, advanced analytics, and automation, as well as an innovation ecosystem, among other tools.
