WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Senior Manager of Global Compensation for Vector is a key role in Bain’s Global Compensation Center of Excellence and is responsible for managing the compensation programs within Bain’s Vector business. Vector is Bain’s technology and digital solutions platform, which combines deep digital consulting experience, sector knowledge, and technical expertise in engineering, artificial intelligence, and data science. Vector helps companies at every step of their digital transformation journey, from building and scaling cutting-edge technology solutions to transforming legacy IT infrastructure into digital platforms.

The Senior Manager of Global Compensation for Vector partners with global Bain leadership, human resources, talent acquisition, and finance teams to ensure the compensation programs are effectively attracting and retaining the best talent for Bain and are aligned with the business strategy and objectives. These activities include process design and ongoing improvement, process execution and coordination, benchmarking strategy, data gathering and market analysis, budget planning, and the administration and communication of compensation programs and processes. This role requires applying strong analytics to build out excel models and tools, keen attention to detail for administration and process management, and strong communication skills to advise and partner with internal stakeholders.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead strategy and planning activities to support Vector’s compensation programs, including compensation strategy, benchmarking, compensation structures, program design elements, communications, and change management
  • Identify key benchmark data sources (formal and informal) and work with broader compensation team to define and operationalize the process for regular and ongoing benchmarking updates
  • Analyze data, build dynamic models, and analyze trends to develop a point of view on competitive market position and propose adjustments to compensation structures and program design (e.g., salary structures, fixed vs. variable pay mix, incentive plans, etc.) to ensure the compensation remains attractive and highly competitive while meeting business objectives
  • Partner with key stakeholders in diagnosing, researching, analyzing, and managing talent needs from a compensation angle
  • Analytically isolate and solve problems using compensation expertise to design, refresh, and operationalize effective compensation programs
  • Plan and operationalize compensation administration processes including compensation review cycles for salary increases, bonuses, and promotions. This includes budget planning, systems/process configuration, creating and managing process timelines, developing guidance for compensation decisions, developing and delivering communications on processes, and other tasks as needed
  • Build and manage trusting collaborative relationships with key stakeholders including, but not limited to talent leaders, human resources, performance management, talent acquisition, business leaders, finance, and legal
  • Serve as an expert advisor to key stakeholders regarding market dynamics, trends, and implications for Bain’s talent strategy and programs
  • Participate in strategic and operational compensation projects and special change initiatives in support of the talent strategy
  • Support strategic change initiatives with a focus on compensation implications (e.g., job architecture; performance management program, etc.)
  • Develop, maintain and deliver compensation program education and training materials for human resources, talent program teams and recruiting teams 
  • Advise human resources and recruiting on how to address compensation questions and coordinate standard responses where applicable

ABOUT YOU

Education

  • Required – Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or related field.
  • Preferred – Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., HR, business administration, economics, statistics, etc.) 
  • Preferred – professional certification in compensation 

 Experience

  • Required – minimum of 8 years’ experience in a global corporate environment with at least 4 years leading compensation program strategy, design and operations 
  • Preferred – Professional services and/or technology industry compensation experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Required

  • Proven knowledge of all forms of compensation including fixed, variable, and deferred, as well as compensation trends and prevalent practices
  • General knowledge of HR regulatory issues globally
  • Experience in managing transformational change efforts within compensation, total rewards, or HR more generally
  • Experience with benchmarking and knowledge of talent trends for highly technical roles such as software engineers, data scientists, product managers, designers, solutions architects, etc.
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to communicate complex technical information in narrative and visual form that is easily understood
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative skills including database management, data analysis, and financial modeling
  • High level of discretion and ability to deal with highly confidential information appropriately
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing and project management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as an integral member of various teams
  • Expertise in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience with using HRIS tools to manage compensation cycles and other processes
  • Experience with market pricing tools

Preferred

  • Experience with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
  • Experience with using Workday to manage compensation cycles and other processes
